Maryland to distribute 500K At-Home COVID-19 Test Kits.

What is happening?

Governor Larry Hogan announced that state of Maryland will distribute 500,000 at home test kits for Covid-19 thoughout the state free of charge.

What kind of at home test will they distribute?

State of Maryland will distribute Abbot’s BinaxNow AG At-home Covid 19 rapid test.

What does the At-Home-Test kit contain?

Each kit contains two COVID-19 tests that are approved to be used by one person, and the tests are to be used at least 36 hours apart and within three days of each other. The tests are self-administered, and results are available in 15 minutes.

When will the distribution start?

The distribution should be available ahead of the holiday season and winter months. The kits are already in Maryland and being distributed to appropriate parties. Each local health department will make announcement regarding the availability.

Where could I get a kit?

Each local health department in your county should distribute them directly or through local libraries, food pantries.

In Caroline County, for example, residents can obtain at-home tests while supplies last at their local public library or at two community food pantries, Aaron’s Place and Giving Grace. In Prince George’s County, public libraries, local federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), and other partner locations will serve as distribution points for the test kits.
